How can we extend the working life of textiles exposed to the sun when used to protect crops or in the garden?

An anti-UV treatment applied to nonwovens that are used as a protective sheet or cover for plants can help to extend the life of nonwoven materials. The characteristics of nonwovens which make them so well suited for crop protection in the agricultural sector, for example being water repellent and tear resistant, are complemented by the addition of an anti-UV treatment.

Nonwovens are also indispensable in the snail farming industry. During the coldest periods of the year, nonwovens are used as a protective layer for the snails, establishing nonwovens as an integral part of Heliciculture.

UV treated non wovens are available in a variety of sizes and weights which allow air and light to pass through, but which still provide enough protection to create a microclimate during the extreme temperature changes experienced between night and day.

In the garden, anti-UV nonwovens protect vegetables and young plants during the colder months. The microclimate created underneath a lightweight, protective layer of nonwoven fabric helps protect plants against winter frosts and ice. This same microclimate can also help stimulate early growth of seedlings in early springtime.
